RESET joined by Spanish partners
A group of Spanish representatives from Reinserta 2, our transnational partner, visited RESET on a four day fact finding mission during December 2006 and toured Warren Hill Prison, the Evelyn Unit at HMP Cookham Wood for juvenile females and Respond, a social enterprise in SE London.
A dinner was held in their honour at Greenwich University which was attended by RESET staff and former national manager, Julie Conalty. For many of the group it was their first trip to London.
The trip follows the visit made by 12 RESET staff and partners including representatives from Lewisham & Greenwich YOT teams and learning mentors from Manchester Connexions who spent three days visiting Procesa Reinserta2, in Ceuta, a Spanish enclave in North Africa.
Reinserta2 (Spanish for Resettlement) works in the local community with socially disadvantaged people, mainly from the small Muslim population. The project, which counts the local trades council and employment agencies amongst its partners, teaches students social and IT skills to enable them to undertake employment training.
RESET mentors also had a chance to meet the Spaniards.
On 11th December 2006 London mentors from Greenwich, Lewisham and Newham attended a drinks reception in Greenwich to welcome RESET’s Spanish partners, and thank mentors for their continuing commitment. They were joined by management from local youth offending teams who paid tribute to RESET mentors.
